Out of Town
The cock crows with all his might, Farmer Meyer’s overalls and his wife’s voluminous bloomers are hanging out to dry in the paddock, geese waddle over to give visitors a raucous welcome ... come down to Meyer’s Farm for the pure country life.
Seven old Lower Saxony half-timbered buildings, reerected here, create the setting for Meyer's Farm and home to rare old domestic breeds - red and white Husum protest pigs grunt and forage in the stalls, and Pomeranian rough-wool sheep share paddocks with sturdy Exmoor ponies and German red-pied pigs.
The heart - and stomach - of the 8,000 square metre grounds is the inn, Gasthaus Meyer, a stately 'two post' house dating from the 17th century. The inn can seat 200, and there’s space for 400 more in the beer garden, where you can soak up the rural atmosphere along with a cool drink. The neighbouring barn, Festscheune, is the place for unforgettable celebrations, meetings and conferences.
Country life to muck in For children, Meyer's is a little holiday down on the farm, helping Farmer Meyer feed the pigs.
R & R Afterwards, why not enjoy the tranquile country life a bit longer, perhaps have a beer in the typical German beer garden or Meyers Inn, while your children have fun in The Brodelburg, a fantastic adventure playground right next to the farm. There´s no need to hurry, Meyer´s Farm stays open well after zoo opening-hours!
