Furry bundles on clumsy paws

27.07.2009

Newborn Persian Leopards

When Saia came to Hannover two years ago she turned her fine feline nose up at everything. Open sky above her – ugh! Generous grounds with super climbing trees – ugh, ugh! She gave her new home one withering glance and retired to sulk. Nothing could tempt her to take an interest in her luxurious surroundings … until a deep masculine growl came from the neighbouring enclosure. At the first sight of Yallah, Saia abandoned all her shyness to gain this handsome hunk’s attention.

The fruit of their union arrived on 31 May 2009. As they were Saia’s first cubs mother, son and daughter spent several weeks in seclusion before making their public debut. In the meantime the young bundles of spotted fur and high spirits are tumbling joyfully around the jungle Palace under Saia’s watchful eye. Yallah can stay on his side of the fence; male leopards often find their offspring good enough to eat.
