Top of the mountain
On the 58 m high hill, ten gorillas inhabit a spectacular forest landscape - lush vegetation,
a bubbling stream and a thundering waterfall to recreate the East African homeland of these gentle giants. Panorama windows set into the rocks look out over the idyllic scene.
Gibbon island
At the foot of the mountain the gibbons, smallest of the apes, live on an island with lianas and trees to show off their astonishing acrobatic grace and daring. In the mornings the gibbons sing the boundaries of their territory! Their weird arias can be heard all over the zoo.
Evolution trail
Footprints up gorilla mountain trace the story of human development. An abandoned research camp, archaeological finds and scenes of the Stone Age remind us that back in time humankind and apes had common ancestors, and testify to the hardships of scientists to unveil the mysteries of human race.
